Guidance is celebrating its 2nd Annual Cinco de Mayo Spring Cleaning event, hosted by the company’s environmental committee, Guidance Green. Next to a mountain of nacho chips, a salsa bar, blended margaritas and mucho Mexican beer will be eco-friendly cleaning supplies, dusters and recycling bins for our employees to enjoy the festivities while organizing their desks.
The initiative was spearheaded by Guidance’s CTO, Jon Provisor, who believes that an organized desk translates into an organized mind, helping employees be more productive and feel more comfortable at work. Jon is right! A December 2009 survey by MARC research for retailer Office Depot on how diligent business professionals are about keeping their workspace clutter-free found that:
- 30% of respondents reported having lost an important document due to a messy desk
- Disorganization commonly leads to lost time (47%), meeting tardiness (16%), and missed deadlines (14%)
Employees will be encouraged to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible when cleaning their desks. Discarded items that are in good condition will be on display for other employees to pick up. To add to the fun, Guidance will be raffling great prizes from our recent office cleaning, including a 42” flat screen TV.
Now, if you’re wondering what does Cinco de Mayo and Spring Cleaning have in common, your guess is as good as ours! One thing we found out, though, is that in Spanish, limpieza (cleaning) rhymes with cerveza (beer)!
The Cinco de Mayo Spring Cleaning will take place this Wednesday, May 5th at 4pm. Make sure to check our Facebook page on Thursday for pictures of the event!
